Holiday season is here!!
Many of us think of the holidays as a time to indulge, a time to find comfort with food, and a time to eat whatever we want.
Here are 5 tips to keep the peace with your food over the next 6 weeks.
1- Drink water! That’s right. Just water. Remember to stay hydrated. Have water when you wake up. Have water between the alcoholic beverages you want to enjoy. Have water throughout the day.
2- Fill your plate with protein and veggies! If you fill your plate with protein and veggies, you’ll feel better after the meal by filling up on these options!
3- Eat slowly and until you’re 80% full. Enjoy your food. Chew it. Stop eating when you’re feeling 80% full. If you still feel hungry after 30 minutes, have a little more.
4- Don’t restrict yourself! The second we tell ourselves “no,” we don’t set ourselves up for success. Have a little portion of each food you like; enough to satisfy yourself. There will always be more food. You will not starve. If you have just enough of a food to taste it and enjoy it without overindulging, you’ll feel better throughout the day and the days following.
5- My favorite tip of all time… ENJOY THE COMPANY! Holidays are about spending time with those we love. Enjoy the company surrounding you. Holidays are not about the food. If you remember to soak up the company, make memories, and focus on those around you in the moment, you’ll love the holidays even more!
There are 6 weeks left in 2023 with 3 major holidays (5 if you include Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve). That’s 42 days. If you eat 3 meals a day, that’s 126 meals. You will not ruin progress with 3 holiday meals, or even 5. Be conscious of what you’re consuming and remember that only you can be responsible for reaching your goals!
